Privacy

There are no accounts, no ads, and nothing here follows you to other sites. We do count visits, in a way that cannot be traced back to you, so we know which cons people look for and what is missing from the list.

What we count

How we count visitors

To count each visitor once, we mix your connection address and browser type with a random value, and keep only a short code from the mix. The random value changes every Monday and the old one is deleted, so the codes cannot be matched back to you, or from one week to the next. The codes themselves are deleted after 15 days. Your address is never stored in our numbers.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, you get no code at all. The pages you open still add to the page totals, but you are not counted as a visitor.

Cookies and your device

The only cookie is one that remembers the state you choose for sorting by distance. It holds a state code and nothing else. Cons you save stay in your browser's own storage and come to us only if you share a link to your list.

Sending us details

What you type in the form, and the email address if you add one, goes to us so we can check the con and write back if we need to. It is kept apart from the visit counts. To stop one person flooding the form, we count how often a connection sends it, using the same weekly code.

Who else handles requests

Basecon runs on Cloudflare, which carries every request and keeps its own operating logs under its own policy. We use no other analytics, advertising, or outside scripts and fonts.
